Petra Bárd earned her JD from ELTE School of Law in 2000 summa cum laude. During her studies she spent one semester at the Humboldt University of Berlin studying the basics of German law. She earned her LL.M. degree in international business law in 2001 at CEU, where she was awarded her SJD in comparative constitutional law in 2008 summa cum laude. Her doctoral dissertation addresses the theoretical foundations of the rights of disabled persons in three jurisdiction: the US, the European Union and Germany.

 

In her writings she mainly addresses the problems of international human rights, the rights of persons living with physical disabilities, constitutional law of the European Union, fundamental rights in the European Union, and the evolution of the EU's third pillar.

 

She lectures at the Central European University's Legal Studies Department, at the École Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d'Angers, and at various summer schools.

 

She is an active member of Hungarian civil society, being a member and since 2003 Vice-Chairperson of the Hungarian Europe Society, and a member of the Hungarian Political Science Association.

 

Hungarian is her mother tongue, she is fluent in English and German, she reads in French.
