History:
On December the 9th 2003 Political Science MA students had a meeting with the main goal of establishing a students’ electronic academic bulletin accessible also from the Internet presentation of the Central European University Political Science Department.

1. ‘Student paper’ web page: the Idea

The general idea of students’ paper site is to electronically publish the best academic papers of CEU students on political science issues.
This electronic bulletin could serve for students as practice in academic writing and prepare them for further academic career. It could provide also some motivational impetus for further study and research.
All CEU students are invited to submit papers: there is only a wide subject-based condition (to be in sphere of Political Science).
Selection of papers to be published is the task of editorial board, consisting of Political Science MA students (for process of selecting the papers see procedure).
The Name of the link – the link operates under the name ‘Student papers’.
This site would be later on divided in separate subjects (sub-links). There is no definite, not even preliminary decision on the exact number and names of these subjects (sub links). Decision on this is postponed, while students agreed to allow (in the future selected) student papers to define and determine the main subjects/sub links. Subject sub-links would contain the list of all papers (in that subject) in electronic format. On that list to the titles of the papers should be also added the names of the authors and other keywords (subjects, course, country(ies)/region(s) that the paper is focused on, and form by title of paper).

2. Procedure

Selection of papers to be published would be the task of the editorial board. The editorial board would consist of ALL Political Science MA students willing to take the responsibility to carefully read and comment the submitted papers (volunteer reader/editors).
In order to be electronically published, a submitted paper needs to receive positive 2/3-majority vote with a minimum of 3 positive votes.
The organization of the procedure of selection is the task of coordinators. Three coordinators are appointed for fulfilling this task: David Nyaluke, Laura Ranca and Tibor Mesman.
Submission of student papers should be initially made to coordinators, who afterwards disseminate the papers to the editorial board.
Positive/negative and conditional positive votes/responses of the readers/editors are to be sent back to coordinators. Coordinators aggregate the results.
If there are not enough readers/editors for a certain paper, coordinators shall have a special responsibility/right/obligation to appoint some readers/editors.
Professors from the Department shall be consulted (asked for experts’ advice) in case of dispute over acceptance/rejection of papers.

3. Possibility of special printed version of best papers
at the end of the year

There is an initial idea to publish at the end of the academic year a printed version a kind of collection of best student papers.
